When I was twelve years old, my family lived next to a forest. Every evening, mockingbird(知更鸟) would come and rest in the trees and sing. I enjoyed 1 singing so much that I decided to catch a young bird. In this way, I 2 hear it sing for me every day.

The next day, the little bird’s mother flew to the cage with some 6 in her mouth. The baby bird looked very happy and ate everything 7 the mother brought to it. I was so happy to see this, 8 the mother knew how to take care of her baby well.
But 9 the third morning, I found it died. I was terribly surprised and cried at noce. I didn’t know 10 happened.
Arthur Wayne, my father’s friend, was a famour ornithologist(鸟类学家). She 11 my father at that time. 12 she knew the whole thing, she explained to me. If a mother mockingbird finds her baby 13 in a cage, she will bring it poison berries(毒莓). She thinks it’s 14 for her baby to die than to lose freedom.
Since then I 15 any living animal and put it in a cage. All living things have a right to live free.

Lin Xiao, 21, a student at Guangdong University, has a big family – her parents, a younger brother and two younger sisters. Lin takes her role as the “big sister” seriously. When her first sister was born, Lin took turns with her mom holding the baby late into the night. “I almost did everything that was supposed to be a parent’s job, but I felt proud of myself,” she said.
Not all of Lin’s classmates share her experiences because of the family planning policy (政策), The one–child policy has been carried out in China for about forty years. But the situation has changed. A new policy made on October 29 said all couples can now have two children.
The new policy is expected to help raise the population of China. Recently, China has been facing an aging population and working-people shortages because of the low birth rate (比率). The two-child policy may also be the gift for every only child. Researchers found that growing up with a brother or sister can have good influence on one’s mental (心理) health.
“Brothers and sisters do matter in unique ways. They give kids something that their parents don’t.” Laura Walker, a professor from Beijing University, told China Daily. She noted that having a brother or a sister protects teenagers against loneliness, fear and so on.
Liu Fang, 20, from Shenzhen University, has a 2-year-younger sister. When her sister disagreed with parents over choosing a college major, she helped her to communicate with her parents. “If necessary, I would always support her,” said Liu. “The best part of having a sister is that you have a partner, friend and supporter throughout your life.”
“But children with brothers or sisters also have to learn to understand and look after each other,” said Laura.

The following are some people’s opinions on using cell phones.
I believe that cell phones are not to be used while driving. One site said that talking on a cell phone while driving had the same results of drunk driving accidents! Also I think it is very impolite to use your phone in a public place! Once I was in a doctor’s office, and people were very quiet. A woman’s cell phone started ringing. After what seemed a million rings, she started to talk on her little “toy”, annoying every one.
----- Chelsea from the US
The cell phone would be a great thing if we used it in the right way. Unfortunately most of us don’t use it in the right way because we talk with our friends for hours and hours, and that’s something we can do better if we have a coffee together. The use of the cell phone in this way is dangerous for the development of good communication. We need to think twice about how we are using cell phones.
----- Graciela Flores form Mexico
Once when I was studying in the library, I was reading my book. Suddenly, a cell phone rang. I was so annoyed because those students didn’t have good manners in public. I looked at them in anger, but they didn’t pay attention. Nowadays, many young students use cell phones everywhere in my country just for talking to their friends. It keeps students from studying.
-----Seung-HyeLee from Korea
I think cell phones should be banned（禁止）in cars and airplanes. It is very clear that people’s attention is diverted（分散）if they talk on cell phones while they are driving. The number of car accidents caused by drivers using cell phones has risen, so people should not use them when they are driving. Also, it is dangerous to use them in airplanes because the phone signals can interrupt the airplane’s signal system.

My Family Life
There are three people in my family: Dad, mon and I, and we live a very happy life.
We’ve got many things: a big TV, a computer and lots of books. Each of us has a mobile phone so that we can communicate with each other more conveniently. Housework is divided equally in our family, like washing dishes, and watering flowers. The rules of my family are pretty strict. For example, I was not allowed to watch TV during weekdays. I must get back home before 6 o’clock. Time for playing computers shouldn’t be over thirty minutes.
Even though these rules are strict, I know they just want me to be better. We love each other and support each other. I enjoy my family life very much.
